About The Sackville Food Bank

How We Operate

The Sackville and District Assistance Centre (commonly known as the Sackville Food Bank) is an entirely volunteer-run organization. We rely on the generosity of our community to cover operating costs and provide food for those experiencing food insecurity.

What We Provide

The Sackville Food Bank is here to offer short-term support during times of need. While we are not able to supply a full week’s worth of groceries, our goal is to help bridge the gap when someone’s funds have run out and they are facing food insecurity. We aim to provide each client with enough food to last approximately three days. The exact items may vary depending on donations and availability, but we always strive to offer nutritious options and essential staples.

Our Partners

The Sackville Food Bank operates in proud partnership with Food Depot Alimentaire and Food Banks Canada. These partnerships help us access food supplies, funding opportunities, and logistical support that strengthen our ability to serve the community. Working together ensures we can respond more effectively to local needs while being part of a larger network committed to reducing food insecurity across the country.

Leadership and Governance

The Food Bank is overseen by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors. In addition to guiding the organization’s overall direction and decision-making, each board member also takes on hands-on responsibilities in the daily operations—whether it’s stocking shelves, organizing fundraisers, assisting clients, or managing logistics. Their active involvement ensures that the Food Bank runs smoothly and stays connected to the real needs of the community.

Respect and Community Guidelines

At the Sackville Food Bank, we believe in creating a welcoming, respectful environment for everyone. Accessing our services is a privilege, not a right, and we are committed to ensuring a space where all clients and volunteers feel safe and valued.
